|
| |
The European Cultural Foundation is looking for great, artistic, cutting-edge ideas for projects that will illuminate the complex topic of cultural diversity. This project is being administered by The Scottish Arts Council (SAC).
Applications are invited in the form of an outline proposal. Simply send your written project proposal (in English, max. 2 pages, around 1000 words) to SAC. No accompanying material is needed at this stage. You should include information about who might be involved in the project, where and when it might take place, and why it is relevant. As you have limited space, stick to what is most important, and focus on what you are actually going to do. After the deadline, SAC will read all the project descriptions.
Within a few weeks, selected applicants whose projects are found to be the most interesting will be invited to write a more extensive project application. This will include all necessary technical details about dates, budget, exact activities, context, etc. These applicants will have 4 weeks to submit their complete applications.
The full project application will then be finally assessed by the Grants team and its advisers.
For Guidelines see attachment. You are advised to read this document carefully to ensure your your project fits the requirements.

Lhanbryde Community Challenge (LCC) wishes to establish a Youth Drama Project in Lhanbryde Community Centre.
To “kickstart” this project it is proposed to run 10 weekly sessions from Friday 19th September culminating in a showcase event on 5th December. During the October break (13th – 24th October) there will be the possibility of additional sessions which are dependent on funding being sourced. If further funding is not available the project will not meet during the October holidays.
There will be two sessions each Friday. The first session will be for P5 – 7 and will meet 3.15pm – 4.15pm. The second session is for S1 – 4 and will meet 4.30pm – 6.00pm. Each session will have a maximum of 20 places.
LCC now seeks an individual or organisation to run this 10 week project. The individual or organisation should have a track record in working in drama/theatre with young people.
A fee of £1,000 is offered (including travel expenses).
It is hoped that there may be a small additional budget to bring in expertise in dance, singing etc for one-off sessions.
For the group to be sustainable it will be necessary to involve parents/carers and other interested adults from the community. To help develop this aspect of the project, sessions for adults who express an interest in helping to run the group will be offered. These sessions may cover topics such as production techniques eg lighting design. The sessions will be open to interested adults and young people from the area.
Appointment will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure (Scotland) check.
Expressions of interest, which should include an outline of your approach to the project, should be sent by Monday 11th August to:

VAGA, the Visual Art and Galleries Association, is organising a networking and professional development event in Edinburgh on Thursday 28 August 2008, during the Edinburgh Art Festival.
cultural domains will consider the development of cultural policy from a number of perspectives and its impact on curators and artists. Cultural change is in the air in Scotland with the proposals for Creative Scotland. There appears to have been little debate within the visual arts sector about the direction of this change.
The seminar will allow for a period of discussion around the issues raised and key points will be fed back to all participants at the end of the event. The event is targeted at professionals working across visual arts practice and disciplines - artist-curators, museum curators, exhibition makers, freelance project managers and policy makers.

Curate a Hayward Touring exhitiion. Submit an innovative exhibition proposal.
Hayward Touring: Curatorial Open 2009 is the inaugural exhibition of a series of three annual Hayward Touring curatorial open calls. Hayward Touring in association with a number of regional museums and galleries invites proposals for an innovative exhibition touring to four UK venues in 2009.
For 40 years, The Hayward has played a key role in creating imaginative, high profile exhibitions in London and throughout the UK with Hayward Touring exhibitions. Hayward Touring annually presents around 22 shows to 650,000 people in approximately 86 venues throughout the UK. Exhibitions range in scale from the British Art Show, the largest survey of contemporary British art organised in the UK, to small graphics and photography shows.
The successful applicant of the Hayward Touring: Curatorial Open will work in collaboration with the Hayward and four regional museums and galleries in organising their touring exhibition commencing July 2009. Hayward Touring: Curatorial Open provides a honorarium of £3,000 plus £1,000 for research and travel expenses. The curator will be expected to work within a modest exhibition budget that will allow for small publication.
The selection panel includes Ralph Rugoff, Director, The Hayward, Roger Malbert, Senior Curator, Hayward Touring, representatives of the participating museums and galleries and an artist (to be announced).
Application deadline: 5pm Monday 8 September 2008
Short-listing: end of September 2008
Interviews: 14 October 2008

Initiated by Scottish Screen in 2000 the Alt-w Fund is for practitioners based in Scotland to make and develop new artworks, devices and creative applications that challenge the notions of what networked or web-based digital creativity can be. The fund strongly encourages applicants to
explore experimental and interactive practice, make use of technology as both platform and medium, and recognise the changing role that digital culture has in our society. Since inception the fund has supported over sixty innovative projects, for 2008/09 our focus is to support projects which dynamically engage audiences beyond the traditional screen.
Guidelines are available from the Alt-w website www.alt-w.com |
