About Us - the team
The Arts Education Team comprises 6 people:
Arts Education Officer (Creative Links):
Main responsibilities: management of the Cultural Co-ordinators and
the strategic development of arts and cultural activities that support
the Curriculum for Excellence.
Cultural Co-ordinators (3):
Main responsibilities: largely funded by the Scottish Arts Council,
the objective of the team is to initiate and orchestrate projects
that engage children and young people (usually in school settings)
in the arts and heritage. They achieve this by working with
practitioners to serve both the needs of teachers and learners. The
Cultural Co-ordinators have the remits of Excellence, Inclusion and
Heritage & Environment.
Youth Music Initiative Co-ordinator:
Main responsibilities: co-ordination of Youth Music Initiative (Formal
Fund).
The Youth Music Initiative is part funded by the Scottish Executive
and has the objective of increasing participatory music opportunities
for children. The co-ordinator works closely with The Aberdeenshire
Instrumental Music Service and schools, having a key role in capacity
building within the music sector.
The ARC Recording Studio and NeFA manager:
The ARC Recording Studio
(www.nefa.net/arc/index.htm) is a
digital recording facility specialising in acoustic music and sound
for film and new media. The studio offers a 32 track digital facility
based on Soundcraft, ProTools and Soundscape with 5.1 surround. The
studio is situated in Aden Country Park, Mintlaw, frequently hosts
educational programmes for children and young people and is available
for hire. It is suitable for a wide variety of music genres in addition
to the spoken word. The ARC Recording Studio is also the home
of the North-east Folklore Archive, a well-used on-line history resource
that is currently being expanded to address the needs of the Scottish
schools’ curriculum.
