Creating Safety

The Scottish Arts Council has issued a revised edition of the booklet creating safety.
The Protection of Children (Scotland) Act 2003 has important implications for all organisations which provide services to children. This revised booklet highlights some of these changes and the implications for arts-based organisations.

As from the 10th January 2005 all volunteers/staff working in Child Care positions must now have a Disclosure Check completed. Until the Disclosure report is received, personnel should not work with children or vulnerable adults unless closely supervised by authorised volunteers/staff. There is no requirement to retrospectively check those staff/volunteers appointed prior to January 10th 2005.
